So yesterday we got a car in that had a positively nasty interior. It was for a
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, but one that also does “guaranteed approval,” weekly-payment loans like a BHPH place.
So we put this interior in it - the leather is from the mid-2000s when the company I work for had a contract with Mitsubishi USA to do all of their dealer-installed leather interior. It looks good to me. But, damn.
And on the outside:
It’s dinged up, scratched, and has a top-end rattle in the engine, as though it’s lived a hard, poorly-maintained life.
Also, I learned that chrome wheel covers for alloys are a thing:
That’s a painted alloy wheel behind the plastic wheel cover. Tacky.

Wait, do those wheels say jeep on them?

Notice the Jeep parked behind the Mitsu

Chrome wheel covers. So Silly. Much meh.

There’s a hole in the center of the cover so the factory cap can show.

As far as I know all new trucks do the wheel covers now. It's cheaper and lighter. Everything I've seen from FCA, GM, and I've seen it on new Lexus(s)

Yeah, the plastic cover over a wheel has been a thing for a while. At least since 2007 or so.

Ah, I see that now

My friends 1999 Ford Ranger came with something similar. We were like what the hell are these, so we took them off.

This thread is confusing me. I’m confused why you’d do either of these things.
I mean that Mitsu interior is pretty jammin’ but why in there?

The leather kit was on clearance. The cost to detail it enough to put it on the lot - oil stained seats and so on - would have been more than they paid for the leather interior. So by paying for the leather installation they can charge an extra $1200 for the car and only pay to have the carpets shampooed and the plastic armor-all-ified.

I’ve seen plastic covers on steelies forever. But on alloys it’s weird to me.

That makes sense. A pretty thorough exterior detail and it’ll be good to go haha.

When alloys look like shit, covers cover them. But yea, plastic covers have been around forever it seems.
